ACHIEVEMENTS

 

The Gender Reform Action Plan was launched in August 2002. Since its inception, the program has come a long way towards achieving its objectives of improved representation and accountability, contributing to an enabling environment for service delivery and women empowerment. GRAPs achievements are summarized here:

   
 
  • Provincial Gender Mainstreaming Committee (GMC) has been established and notified having Minister for Women Development, Punjab as its Chairperson
 
 
  • District Gender Mainstreaming Committee (GMC) had been notified having District Nazim as its Chairman, however as a result of new composition as provided in the Revised PC-I (approved by PDWP on 18/07/07), the district GMC are to be re-notified accordingly
 
 
  • PMU of the project is made functional and has achieved the targets for the year 2006-07
 
 
  • Independent Logo & Website for the project was designed and developed by the project team internally in December 2006 ww.grap.gop.pk
 
 
  • Envisaged amendment in the Rules of Business of Women Development Department has been incorporated/ notified
 
 
  • Restructuring of Women Development Department is on the cards. GRAP had moved a summary to Chief Minister which is approved and separate Directorate of Women Development has been established
 
 
  • Gender Mainstreaming Unit/Task Leader Gender Mainstreaming (TL-GM) in Line Departments notified.
 
 
  • Career Development Centers in four universities have been established and functioning.
 
 
  • Distt. Office WDD/ GSUs have been established in all the 9 districts of Phase I and functioning satisfactorily.
 
 
  • Gender Mainstreaming Units have been established in the targeted 8 line Departments at Punjab Secretariat
 
 
  • Electronic & Print Media campaign has been launched to create awareness among the public and to highlight the commitment of the government for the uplift of women folk to its stakeholders.

 

 
 
  • PMU, GRAP being the hub of gender related activities is actively involved in developing synergy with all the related projects like Decentralization Support Programme (DSP), Gender Responsive Budgeting Initiative (GRBI) funded by UNDP, Women Protection Project by GTZ, Women Political School (WPS) Project funded by UNDP, Gender Mainstreaming Project in P&D Division and P&D Departments funded by UNDP etc. in order to avoid duplication of services and wastage of resources.

 

 
 
  • GRAP conducted two days painting competition on 12th & 13th January, 2007 amongst colleges/institutes & University students on its four reform themes for creating awareness among the youth regarding the existing gender issues. 

      

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
  • GRAP has conducted 4 days training course on “Office Management” for newly appointed GRAP Officers of GMUs/ GSUs and CDCs.
     
 
 
  • MoU Signed with Women Empowerment Group
 
 
  • GRAP with the collaboration of German Technical Cooperation and Women Protection Project (gtz) organized two days training session on “Gender Sensitization” of GRAP staff on 23rd & 24th May, 2007.

 

 
 
 
 
 
 
  • Meeting of National Steering Committee on Gender Mainstreaming held on
    11, August, 2007 at PMO GRAP, Islamabad.
    The performance of GRAP, Punjab was presented by Project Coordinator GRAP, Punjab.The achievements of GRAP, Punjab were highly appreciated by the members of NSCGM. Chairperson of NSCGM directed that GRAP, Punjab should be taken as role Model for other Provincial GRAPs and they should follow the foot steps of GRAP, Punjab.

 

 
 
  • Posts for PMU, GRAP and Gender Support Units (Phase-II) has been adversities in daily news papers and recruitment process will complete till mid October.
 
 
 
 
  • 3 Days Training on “Gender Analysis, Planning, Appraisal, Monitoring & Evaluation (T2)” from 06th -08th November, 2007 for the Officers of GRAP and Social Welfare Department with the collaboration of UNDP
 
 
 
  • 4 Days Training for CDCs Staff for "Development of SOPs" in collaboration with ILO from 14th -17th November, 2007 at PMU, GRAP, Lahore
 
 
 
  • 2 Days Training on "Gender & Development" for the representatives of CSOs at Bhakkar on 24th & 25th November 2007 with the collaboration of South Asia Partnership Program
 
 
  • One Day Networking Workshop on Child Trafficking and Child Protection Issues for Law Enforcement Agencies organized by GMU, Home Dept.on 28-11-2007
 
 
 
 
  • One day workshop on “Violence Against Women” jointly organized by GMU Home Dept., GMU Finance Dept., GMU Health Dept. & GMU S&GAD Dept. on 15-12-2007.

  • Meeting with Women’s Empowerment Group held at PMU, GRAP  to work jointly and evolve strategy for Special Events Management, Social Mobilization, Capacity Building and Networking on 25-03-2008
 
 
  • MoU signed with CIDA/ DSP on 14th April, 2008 to jointly initiate the activities related to Women Political Participation.
 
 
  • PMU, GRAP organized four days training course on “Office Management” on 21-24th April, 2008 at PMU, GRAP, Lahore for newly recruited field officers from District Office-WDD/ Gender Support Units of phase-II and Gender Mainstreaming Unit.
 
 
  • Four days training workshop on “Gender Mainstreaming in Policies, Programs and Projects” on 14-15th May, 2008 at PMU, GRAP, Lahore for officers in District Office-WDD/ Gender Support Units of phase-II and Gender Mainstreaming Unit.
 
 
  • 4 Days Training Workshop for Gender Specialists of GRAP at Punjab Local Government Academy Lalamusa In collaboration with CIDA on 26-29th May, 2008
